    ADD/ADHD

With medications for our children on the rise, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), have been described as the most commonly reported childhood behavioral conditions. Poor attention and distractibility and/or hyperactive and impulsive behaviors make up this controversial disorder.

Diagnosing this behavioral ailment is strictly observational with no lab tests to back up the diagnosis. Methylphenidate (Ritalin) has been the most common “treatment” for ADD/ADHD, thus far. The effects of this drug in children are still unknown.

Although Chiropractic cannot “treat” Add/ADHD, the effects of Chiropractic care on children with learning or behavioral disorders have been recognized and underestimated. It has been found that through diet and Chiropractic care, children suffering from these disorders have had significant changes in behavior with school and at home. Children with a subluxation need Chiropractic.  Once the nerves that are being interfered are corrected, the potential for their personality will, and expression of self can unfold. Many parents have reported termination of ADD/ADHD medication once Chiropractic was started.

"It is easy to substitute our will for that of the child by means of suggestion or coercion; but when we have done this we have robbed him of his greatest right, the right to construct his own personality."

    – Maria Montessori
